Fajr Film Festival contender ‘Yalda’ releases photos

The first photos of the movie ‘Yalda’, to compete at Iran’s Fajr Film Festival, are released.

The first photos of the movie ‘Yalda’, selected to compete at Iran’s Fajr Film Festival, have been released.

Written and directed by Masoud Bakhshi, the film will take part at the New Vision section of the 37th Fajr Film Festival.

The film tells the story of Maryam Komijani, a young woman who has been sentenced to death for the murder of her husband. On Yalda Night, an ancient cultural festive marking the longest night of the year, she has been brought to a studio to be forgiven by the victim’s only daughter, Mona Ziya, during a live TV program.

But several incidents during the show and behind-the-scenes of the TV program get the two young women into a challenging situation to take a decision.

‘Yalda’ is starring Behnaz Jafari and Faqiheh Soltani.

The 37th Fajr Film Festival is set to kick off on February 1, and will run until February 11 in the capital city of Tehran.

The festival coincides with the ten-day Fajr ceremonies across Iran, marking the 40th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.
